The Message

Saint Nicholas Live – Revisited
SNL: Saint Nicholas Live. Wow, what an evening of music, praise, fellowship and food that we had! The choir and Pastor (Katrina Foster) from Fordham Lutheran Church was fantastic with their praise music – in song and instruments. The St. Andrew’s enhanced choir rocked too as they sang a “He is the Rock”. The meal together was wonderful and we all were treated to a visit from St. Nicholas (Ted Maas) who delivered little stockings of candy to everyone present. Thanks to all who worked, sang, brought food, and helped with this wonderful evening with our sister congregation in the Bronx. We are grateful for the Fordham Choir and their enthusiasm and joy brought to the fellowship. Following are a couple of comments extracted from email notes from Fordham folks:

"Thank you and all the members of St. Andrews so much for last Saturday night. I was excited before arriving, but everything went even better than I could have hoped for. Your choir was great. Your congregation was fun. But, the hospitality and welcome you all extended was the best. I have never felt so welcomed by a whole congregation. The conversations I and all the members of the choir had with your members were so refreshing. St. Andrews is very blessed with the gift of hospitality .I look forward to more fellowship between our congregations. Please remember to email some photos!" Pastor Foster

"My family and I were especially appreciative of the heartfelt welcome we received from your members and my youngest daughter was very excited about the new friends she made in such a short period of time From the moment we walked through the doors of St. Andrews we felt there was a sense of peace, family and faith flowing through the sanctuary. Again, we would like to express our humble gratitude for the invitation to come and minister through music at St. Andrews and we look forward to another opportunity to worship and praise together." We are grateful to Chili’s for their donation!

Monthly Minutes

From the Worship Committee, Meeting
CONTINOUS COMMUNION: It was decided that on Family Sundays (the first Sunday of each month) when the Sunday school children in grades 3-7 are in church, we will have continuous communion by intinction. This will facilitate the distribution of Holy Communion. Also, we will offer communion in the same way at the 8:30 and 11:00 PM services on Christmas Eve.

A NEW SETTING: Because we have all these new settings of the liturgy in our ELW, and because it is good to know more of them and worship with differing music, we are planning to try another setting in January. Setting VI is one that is familiar (we have sung it in introduction). Slowly we will learn portions until we have it all!

TAIZE SERVICE – Taize is a community in France, at which the worship is centered on light in darkness. The style is contemplative and quiet, as canons are sung in repetition, prayers are offered and lessons are read—quite different from our usual practice of worship. On Sunday, December 14th we will use this style at an evening worship.

AND WE SAY YES: Our Stewardship theme has carried through and we are pleased at the response of people who have shared their “YESes” during worship. Each person’s presentation was different, but all were positive and blessed! Special thanks to Anthony Forcina, Joyce Morgan, Joan Kuhhorn, Rita Nehmzow, Ellen Ottstadt, Margy Tillistrand, Greg Ehlke, Dale Sharp and Bob Dezzi for speaking.

It has been overheard that others have said – “I have something to say too.” Keep on saying the YES God has for you...and you for God.
